A Summary of Dr. Mile Brujic's CE event titled "Rule These Out Before You Diagnose It As Dry Eye"

Today, we'll dive into a summary of Dr. Mile Brujic's CE event titled "Rule These Out Before You Diagnose It As Dry Eye", covering various eye conditions that can masquerade as dry eye.

First up, Epithelial Basement Membrane Dystrophy causes fluctuating vision due to corneal irregularities. Differentiate it from fluctuations in vision caused by tear evaporation, and be cautious with treatments like anti-inflammatories. Opt for lubrication, and punctal occlusion, and consider oral doxy for recurrent corneal erosions.

Next, Floppy Eyelid Syndrome, which is characterized by lid laxity. Manage with ointments, sleep aids, eye masks, and even blepharoplasty. This condition is strongly linked to obstructive sleep apnea.

Watch out for Mucous Fishing Syndrome, where patients use their fingers to dig mucous from their eyes due to irritation. Treat with a topical corticosteroid for a week.

Explore Advancing Wavelike Epitheliopathy, a toxic reaction causing a wave-like appearance on the cornea. Remove irritants, switch to different contact lens solutions, and maintain eye health.

Allergic Eye Disease comes in seasonal and perennial forms. Look for limbal trantas dots in VKC and consider other dermatological conditions in AKC. Symptomatic relief is key.

Lastly, address issues of trichiasis, and blepharitis.
