Learn more about Common Contact Lens Myths with Dr. Melissa Barnett

It’s time for some Woo’s Wisdom! In Dr. Melissa Barnett’s presentation, titled “Fact vs. Fiction – Tackling Common Contact Lens Myths”, she cleared up some common misconceptions on contact lenses. Here’s a quick summary:

·        First, Dr. Barnett discussed the various benefits happy contact lens wearers provide to the practice which include differentiation, improving patient retention and loyalty, increasing referrals, and increasing revenue.

Now let’s get into some fact or fiction!

·        Fact or fiction: Daily disposable contact lenses are wasteful. Fiction! A 20 ounce water bottle is equivalent in weight to 1,586 dehydrated contact lenses, which is a 2.17 year supply

·        Fact or fiction: Multifocal contact lenses don’t work. Fiction! Dr. Barnett walked through some great tips on being successful with multifocals

·        Fact or fiction: Scleral lenses are only used for irregular eyes. Fiction! Scleral lenses are great for dry eyes, ocular surface protection, high refractive errors, sports, and many other indications.
