I’m Dr. Jennifer Stewart and I’m here with the Woo’s Wisdom for Imaging Techniques and Emerging Therapies for Geographic Atrophy with Dr Carolyn Majcher.  She first gave us a great introduction into AMD, and discussed risk factors, staging and classification.  She then discussed the definition, risk factors. and prevalence of geographic atrophy.  We learned about current imaging technologies for GA detection and monitoring, and she also discussed new complement inhibition therapies available for the treatment of GA.  She discussed when we should consider referring these patients, and finished off with some great tips on patient education, including setting realistic expectations and the importance of home screenings.
